About the event
Enjoy soup dinner and a lecture on the papal encyclical Mit Brennender Sorge. Learn about the Church’s response to the rise of the Third Reich and the conditions leading up to WWII, including the heroic and pivotal role of the Catholic free press and diocesan newspapers. Catholic publishers risked imprisonment and death to defy suppression and distribute this critical encyclical, which soundly affirmed the dignity of all persons and condemned the evils of the Third Reich. The lecture will also include a celebration of the history and role of our very own Catholic Messenger, the official newspaper of the Diocese of Davenport. Cost: Free/freewill suggested donation $8 to benefit the Carlo Acutis faith formation program.
